While bursting with development, the dynamic city of Saigon still holds in itself many historically important sites, bearing witness to the eventful contemporary history of Vietnam. And one of them being the Cu Chi Tunnels – the testimony to the determination and tenacious spirit of Vietnamese people.
This morning (afternoon), you will head northwest to Cu Chi District, 60km from the city center to visit the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels – a massive underground defense system of over 200km stretching from Saigon to the Cambodian border to move troops and supplies throughout Saigon’s northern districts. The tunnel network comprised countless trap doors, command centers, weapon facilities, hospitals, living areas, kitchen, etc., instrumental in numerous military campaigns during the war. Nowadays, only several parts of the system are available for visiting, but visitors can still learn about its decisive role in the Vietnam War. If interested, you can join a trial shooting session with an AK47 or M30 (additional fees apply).
