Located on the bank of Perfume River; Hue, the city of Thua Thien Hue province in Central Vietnam, is 700 km from Hanoi, 1100km from Ho Chi Minh City, and only a few miles from the sea. Hue was the national capital, the political, cultural and religious center of Vietnam under the control of Nguyen Dynasty ( from1802 to 1945). During these years, architectural works of a high cultural and historic value were built: the Citadel, especially the Imperial City (including 253 constructions), 7 Royal tomb compound of 9 kings of the Nguyen Dynasty, the Esplanade of Nam Giao, the Ho Quyen arena and the Hon Chen Temple.
Hue owns many world heritage properties recognized by UNESCO, including Royal Literature on Hue Royal Architecture – World Documentary Heritage, the Complex of Hue Monument – World Cultural Heritage Site, Vietnamese Court Music (Nha nhac) – World Intangible Cultural and Imperial records of Nguyen Dynasty – World Documentary Heritage .
